Hi. I’m Matianna.
Matti for short.
I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Ojai in Southern California. I have been a therapist for 15 years. I grew up in a small town in the San Francisco Bay Area. I had my first experience with my own personal therapy during college at University of California, Santa Barbara, to help with the transition of starting college and leaving home for the first time. Due to the warmth and empowerment of my first therapist, I came to understand that therapy was to be a life-long calling and part of my life purpose. I provide coaching services as well as talk therapy. My background includes a yoga certification and training in martial arts. I have a special interest in self-care relating to a daily practice.
Who I am
I am a therapist in California specializing in anxiety and regulating emotions. I work hard to aid my clients in accepting and working with emotions rather than feeling shamed by them. Have you ever had someone try to tell you not to feel the way you do? Rather than feeling bad about our emotions and how we react to the world, we can take a look at what the emotional reaction is about and how it came to be that way. We can work on tools to change how you interpret the world around you so that you feel better on an everyday basis.
Who I Work With
I provide telehealth psychotherapy services to individuals in California and coaching services to those around the world. I love working with adults who are aiming to hone in on how to create their most meaningful lives. My clients often struggle with perfectionism of one sort or another and are tired of the ways that it wreaks havoc in their lives. A lot of my clients have so much to be grateful for, and yet find it hard to be happy. Sometimes, we run on auto-pilot through life. I aid clients in living their best lives according to their preferences and dreams. Due to my training as a yoga teacher, I have the ability to offer skills in mindfulness if the client is interested.
What I Do
I use narrative, cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavior therapy techniques.
“And that would be my life. And I would be happy.”
